Matthew 21:1-8

New Living Translation

21 As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, they came to the town of Bethphage on the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent two of them on ahead. “Go into the village over there,” he said. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will immediately let you take them.” This took place to fulfill the prophecy that said, 5 “Tell the people of Jerusalem, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey—riding on a donkey’s colt.’” 6 The two disciples did as Jesus commanded. They brought the donkey and the colt to him and threw their garments over the colt, and he sat on it. Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

Can you hear the hum of the crowd? They know that someone special is coming. Can you feel the building excitement? The people know that there is a presence in the world of a power way beyond our ordinary imagination. Can you catch a glimpse of him? Have you seen the changes knowing him has made in the lives of the people around you? He has come into the world for you and me. He wants us to know the love his Father has for us. He wants us to know what it means to love the Father in return. He has come into the world to save us from ourselves. Let us welcome him into our lives and into our hearts with the joy and gratitude and honor he deserves…something to pray about.

Don’t forget to look for the Lord today. Vicki H.
