Matthew 2:9-11

New Living Translation

9 After this interview the wise men went their way. And the star they had seen in the east guided them to Bethlehem. It went ahead of them and stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! 11 They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

The three wise men brought gifts to honor the Son of God. Have you ever wondered what gifts you would bring if you were the one sent to the manger? Would you bring something material? Maybe your favorite watch. Or your laptop. Maybe a family heirloom. We all have God-given gifts. Like the little drummer boy, would you take him your lovely singing voice or your mastery of the piano? Would you organize the Holy Family’s travel itinerary or work out a sound retirement plan for Joseph and Mary? Perhaps paint a masterpiece to capture the moment. There is a tribute we are all well equipped to give. It is a tribute to the King that is due him and the one most desired by Our Lord and Savior. It is our love, our trust, and our obedience. We were created by him and redeemed by him through his unfathomable love. Our worship and praise is the least we can do…something to pray about.

Don’t forget to look for the Lord today. Vicki H.
