2 Corinthians 5:18-6:2

18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. 20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” 21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.6 As God’s partners, we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it. 2 For God says, “At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

It is so easy to get wrapped up in the everyday comings and goings of this world. We overlook the most astounding because we are focused on the mundane. We have to wake up! Today is the day! Not only some extraordinary sacrifice two thousand years ago, remote and full of mystery; our salvation is at work this very minute! God made it all possible by sending Jesus Christ to teach us and ultimately atone for our sins on the cross. That was the day of salvation. But, today is the day we finally get it. We embrace it and fall to our knees in gratitude and joy in the comprehension of salvation. Stop right now and think about just how astounding it really is! What is even more amazing, we get to claim it and enjoy it all over again tomorrow, even if we mess things up today. There are no words to describe love that big, that unending, that unearned. Why wouldn’t we want the people around us to know that same unimaginable love? Why wouldn’t we want to share it? Maybe it is because we are so wrapped up in our own private everyday comings and goings that the amazement slips our mind. We never slipped Jesus’ mind. We need to do better at not ignoring God’s marvelous gift of kindness (verse 6) …something to pray about.

Don't forget to look for the Lord today.
